SMS is for household-grade, consent-first operational alerts — the kind of thing you want when a background job needs attention, not a marketing channel.

Optional opt-in: via /sms-opt-in.
Voluntary: SMS consent is not required to use this website, access non-SMS tools, create an account, receive any non-SMS service, complete a purchase, or complete a transaction.
Purpose: operational alerts, status updates, and maintenance test messages only.
Typical alerts: cat dashboard refresh failures, service downtime, and other household automation events that need attention.
Frequency: normally low (0–5 / day). During incidents it can spike.
Opt-out: reply STOP.
